Please strictly follow this guide when selecting power accessories to ensure device safety in extreme environments.

Improper charging can easily cause motherboard burnout or water ingress. Must read before Installation!

Core Red-Line Warnings: Do Not Cross These Limits

High-Temperature Simultaneous Charging & Usage Warning: Under intense sunlight, it is absolutely prohibited to "retain the battery + use external power supply simultaneously." The battery must be removed and switched to direct external power supply! The superimposition of multiple operating conditions will easily trigger high-temperature protection or even cause damage.

Type-C Waterproof Warning: Opening the waterproof cover of the X72's Type-C port voids the IP68 protection. It is strictly prohibited to open the cover and use it as a permanent power source in outdoor environments such as rain, dust, or long-distance off-roading!

ACC Module Mandatory Requirement: For fixed installations in rally/off-road scenarios, the New 120-second ACC Converter must be used. For the old 8-second version, please contact customer service immediately for a free replacement!

Detailed Installation Instructions

Standard Installation for Motorcycle Rally / Off-Road / Desert

Option A · 24-PIN Expansion Interface

Vehicle-mounted · Back installation · DC 12V / 1.5A (Includes serial TTL + USB-HOST).

ACC Signal Cable: From the upstream DC-DC converter → Vehicle ignition circuit, enabling auto-power on with ignition ON / approx. 120-second delayed power-off after ignition OFF.

Detailed Installation Steps

01

Remove the X72 built-in battery and switch to external power supply mode.

Customers can remove and install the battery themselves, but must strictly follow the official procedures. Retaining the battery + charging while using is strictly prohibited in this scenario.

Inspection Standard: No bulging, unusual odor, or water ingress marks in the battery compartment; dummy battery / external power supply kit is properly installed.
Remove screws

Remove screws, take off back cover.

Remove battery

Remove screws, take out battery.

Replace with dummy battery

Replace with dummy battery and reassemble.

Draw out the positive and negative wires from the vehicle battery and connect the fuse in series.

The fuse specification should be selected according to the recommended value of the DC-DC converter.

Inspection Standard: Powers on upon ignition, delayed shutdown after ignition OFF, restores upon re-ignition.

Connect to the DC-DC/ ACC Converter (New 120s Delay).

For the early 8-second delay version, please contact after-sales for a free replacement. The converter simultaneously performs voltage regulation, anti-reverse connection, and ACC ignition-off detection.

Note: If the customer's device is still the 8-second version, the free replacement must be completed before proceeding with this step.

Connect the ACC signal wire to the vehicle's ignition circuit.

The device powers on when ignition is ON; approximately 110 seconds after ignition OFF, the system enters the shutdown process; if the system has not entered the shutdown process around 120 seconds, the ACC will automatically cut off all power, forcing a power-off of the host device.

Inspection Standard: Powers on upon ignition, delayed shutdown after ignition OFF, restores upon re-ignition.

Connect the output wire to the 24-PIN interface on the back of the X72.

Align with the interface direction and insert fully, paying attention to the foolproof (anti-misinsertion) design.

Inspection Standard: Interface is secure (not loose), no foreign objects, indicator light is normal.

Secure the wiring harness and conduct full-device testing.

Avoid the engine, exhaust pipe, steering activity areas, and sharp edges; reserve slack for shock absorption.

Inspection Standard: Max brightness navigation + Ignition / Ignition OFF / Restart full process functions normally.

Prohibitions/Precautions: Notes for this scenario

  • It is not recommended to retain the X72 built-in battery before using this option — it creates a "charging while using" superimposition, which may trigger high-temperature protection.
  • It is prohibited to use the Type-C port as a backup charging method in this scenario (IP68 protection is invalid when the waterproof cover is open; the customer bears responsibility for any water ingress/damage).
  • If using the early 8-second ACC version for motorcycle rally scenarios, you must first contact after-sales for a free replacement to the new 120-second version.

Side Vehicle Power Supply

Option B · M8 Aviation Connector

Side installation · DC power supply (Includes RS232 Serial Port) · Same as Option A: Vehicle-mounted DC-DC direct power supply option.

Key difference: Does not include power on/off interrupt I/O. Relies on the 120-second ACC hard power-off. No graceful shutdown process.

Key Differences A vs B (Important):

Option A (24-PIN) interface pins include power on/off interrupt IO. ACC signals reach the host, initiating a graceful shutdown process upon ignition off.

Option B (M8) interface pins do not include this IO. The host will not shut down gracefully; instead, it relies on a hard power cut from the ACC 120 seconds after ignition off.

Selection Recommendation:

  • Prioritize option A: Features graceful shutdown; the system saves states normally.
  • Select option B for specific wiring routes or when RS232 serial port is required concurrently: Fully functional, only differing in the shutdown method.

Detailed Installation Steps

Remove the X72 built-in battery and switch to external power supply mode.

Connect to the DC-DC/ ACC Converter (New 120s Delay).

The converter performs voltage regulation, anti-reverse connection, and ACC ignition-off detection. For the early 8-second delay version, please contact after-sales for a free replacement.

Note: If the customer's device is still the 8-second version, the free replacement must be completed before proceeding with this step.

Route the ACC signal wire (for hard power-off in Step 5).

The M8 interface pins do not include power on/off interrupt I/O, so the host cannot receive ACC signals to shut down automatically. Therefore, this step requires correct connection to the vehicle's ignition circuit.

Note:Unlike option A, the host in option B will not "actively shut down" after ignition OFF, but relies on a 120-second hard power-off. Please inform customers of this difference in advance.

Connect the output wire to the side M8 aviation connector on the X72 and lock it securely.

Align with the M8 interface direction, insert, and rotate clockwise to lock it securely, ensuring it does not detach in shock or rainy environments.

Inspection Standard: Interface is locked securely (not loose), indicator light is normal.

Secure the wiring harness and conduct full-device testing.

Avoid the engine, exhaust pipe, steering activity areas, and sharp edges; reserve slack for shock absorption.

Inspection Standard: Max brightness navigation + Power on upon ignition -> Hard power-off approx. 120 seconds after ignition OFF -> Restores upon re-ignition.

Prohibitions / Precautions for this scenario

  • It is not recommended to retain the X72 built-in battery before using this option — it creates a "charging while using" superimposition, which may trigger high-temperature protection.

Important Note Regarding the Waterproof Cover:

The X72 device overall features an IP68 waterproof rating, but the IP68 protection for the Type-C port is strictly contingent upon the waterproof cover being securely closed. The cover must be opened during use; therefore, the Type-C port is only suitable for routine scenarios with controlled temperatures, free from rain, dust, or prolonged vibration.

Detailed Operation Steps
01

Open the waterproof cover of the side Type-C port on the X72.

Gently peel back the rubber waterproof cover; avoid pulling forcefully.

Inspection Standard: The waterproof cover is fully opened; the port is free of foreign objects.

Insert the Type-C cable and connect the other end to a PD 18W adapter or power bank.

Inspection Standard: The indicator light turns on / the system displays the charging status.

Unplug the cable after use and ensure the waterproof cover is fully restored and sealed tight.

Note: If the device is taken into outdoor or humid environments without the cover being securely sealed, the customer shall bear the responsibility for any resulting water ingress and damage.

Prohibitions for this interface

  • It is strictly prohibited to use this port for motorcycle rallies, off-roading, desert riding, or vehicle-mounted use in prolonged outdoor scenarios—the waterproof cover remains open with zero protection.
  • Do NOT open the waterproof cover in rainy or dusty environments.
  • If top-up charging is needed outdoors, please switch to the Magnetic 4-PIN (Option D) or vehicle-mounted Options A/B.

Light Outdoor Handheld / Universal 5V Car Use

Side location · 5V / 2A · Universal for handheld cable charging / 5V Car Charger power supply.

Magnetic connection requires no opening of the waterproof cover.

Detailed Operation Steps
01

Select the power source based on the usage scenario.

Handheld → Use a 5V adapter or power bank; Vehicle-mounted → Use the USB output (5V) of a car charger.

Align the magnetic head of the 4-PIN cable with the side contacts on the X72.

Magnetically attaches in place automatically; no plugging/unplugging required, and no need to open the waterproof cover.

Inspection Standard: The indicator light turns on / the system displays the charging status.

Secure the wiring harness during vehicle-mounted use.

Prevent the magnetic head from detaching due to driving vibrations; keep the wiring clear of steering activity areas.

Inspection Standard: The magnetic head does not detach during hard braking or on bumpy roads.

Key Notes: Positioning and Limitations of this Port

  • Option D is the only routine charging method that does not require opening the waterproof cover. Prioritize it for outdoor recharging.
  • The 5V/2A power limit is relatively low: suitable for handheld recharging and routine car navigation; not suitable for prolonged vehicle-mounted, high-brightness navigation (Please use option A or B).
  • When using a 5V car charger with the battery installed, avoid simultaneous max-brightness navigation for prolonged online periods to prevent the "charging while using" condition from triggering high-temperature protection.
